Psychiatry should feel personal

Sprout Psychiatry is a small, independent psychiatric practice based in Bellingham and providing virtual care throughout Washington State.

Sprout was created around a simple idea: psychiatric care should be more than identifying symptoms and prescribing medication.

Symptoms are important, but they exist within a person. Your relationships, personality, experiences, environment, and the ways you've learned to navigate the world can all help us understand what you're experiencing and what might actually help.

A different approach to psychiatric care

At Sprout, we take a psychodynamic and relational approach to psychiatry alongside evidence-based diagnosis and medication management.

That means we pay attention not only to what you're experiencing, but also to the patterns and experiences that may help us understand why.

Medication can be an incredibly useful tool, but it isn't the entire treatment relationship. Decisions about medication are made collaboratively and thoughtfully, with attention to your goals, preferences, response to treatment, and side effects.

The goal isn't simply to find a medication that works. It's to understand you well enough to develop treatment that makes sense for you.

What you can expect

Thoughtful diagnosis
ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood symptoms can overlap. A careful evaluation helps us understand the bigger picture before deciding what treatment makes sense.

Collaborative medication management
Treatment decisions are made together. We'll discuss options, potential benefits and risks, and adjust treatment based on how you're actually doing.

A relationship that develops over time
Psychiatric care doesn't end after the initial evaluation. Ongoing appointments allow us to understand patterns, evaluate progress, and adapt treatment as your needs change.

Care that's built around the individual
There is no single treatment plan that works for everyone. Medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and other evidence-based approaches may all have a role depending on your needs.

Small by design

Sprout is intentionally a small private practice.

Remaining small allows psychiatric care to be personal and consistent. You'll work directly with your provider rather than navigating a large organization or seeing a different clinician each time.

Appointments are virtual, allowing Sprout to provide care to clients throughout Washington while maintaining the continuity of a traditional private practice.

Sprout may be a good fit if you're looking for psychiatric care that is thoughtful, collaborative, and interested in understanding more than a diagnosis.

Whether you're seeking an evaluation for the first time, reconsidering a previous diagnosis, or looking for a different approach to medication management, you're welcome to start with a free 15-minute consultation.
